Island DAO season

Frequently asked questions

The winning answer is whichever received the most effective stake — not real-world truth.

What is battle.vote?

battle.vote is a fully on-chain prediction market on Solana. You pick the answer you think the crowd will back, commit your SOL while the market is open, and share the pot if the side you chose wins.

How do I win?

When the deadline passes, every vote is revealed and the answer with the most effective stake wins. Winners split the entire pot in proportion to their effective stake; losing commits forfeit their SOL to that pot.

Why are votes hidden until the deadline?

Each vote is encrypted on-chain when you commit and only revealed after the deadline. This commit-reveal design stops anyone from copying the crowd or front-running late — you have to make your own call while the outcome is still uncertain.

What happens if there's a tie?

The answer with the lowest index wins. If answers #1 and #2 are tied, answer #1 wins.

Can I change my vote?

You cannot change the answer on an existing commit — it is sealed on-chain until the reveal phase. You can sell a position before the deadline, or add more commits (up to 10 per market) to stake on the same or a different answer.

Can I vote more than once on the same market?

Yes. Each market allows up to 10 separate commits per wallet. Each commit is an independent position with its own answer, amount, and effective stake. Selling a position frees the slot, and you can recommit anytime before the deadline.

Can I get a refund if I lose?

No. Commits are final and there are no refunds. If your side loses, your stake stays in the pot and is paid out to the winners. Only commit SOL you can afford to lose.

Can I change or sell my vote before the deadline?

You can exit a position early by selling it before the deadline, but an early-exit penalty applies and is kept by the market. Once the deadline passes, positions can no longer be sold — only claimed or forfeited.

What if the market creator cancels early?

If no votes have been committed, the creator can close the market and all SOL is returned. Once votes are committed, the market runs to its deadline.

Why does voting later cost more?

A cost multiplier rises as the deadline approaches, so the same effective stake costs more SOL the later you commit. Voting early is cheaper and rewards conviction; voting late is more expensive because you are acting on more information.

How do I claim my winnings?

After a market settles, a claim becomes available for winning positions. A relayer auto-claims on your behalf, but you can always claim manually from the market or your profile. Every payout is traceable on Solscan.

Do I need a wallet?

Yes. You need a Solana wallet to commit, sell, claim, or create a market. Browsing markets, the leaderboard, and the feed works without connecting.

What fees are there?

1% is deducted from each commit (0.3% to the platform, 0.7% to the market creator) before your SOL enters the pot. A minimum of 0.01 SOL per vote is required — it covers the gas for your automatic payout when you win. There is no fee to browse or connect your wallet.

Who decides the outcome?

Nobody. There is no oracle and no judge — the outcome is decided entirely by the open Anchor program from the revealed votes, and anyone can verify settlement on-chain.
